Hello,
The Owner of a pizza cafe wants to install a POS system or a database that
does the following.
The network is to support a database to track company business:

1. Inventory
2. Top 10 selling products.
3. Track Customers
4. Scheduling
5. Weekly report

Cafe menu available on the Internet and local machines.
Can someone point me to example/resources to make this happen???

That is a definite tall order to be sure!

If the owner wants to get something up and running quickly, then buying
a complete POS package is most likely the only alternative. Making something
from scratch, although possible, could take a significant amount of time and
resources to develop, even for someone with sufficient experience.

I would seriously consider doing some research on POS systems. Most
higher end systems will do all the above and more. A word of caution though
from someone who has been down this road: make sure you do a LOT of
research before committing to something!

A local company in our town sells these types of systems and I think their
PixelPoint Software actually is web-enabled (but don't quote me):

We do not use that package, but I have seen some demo shots on some
machines before.

For the record, no, I am not affiliated with them at all. We have bought hardware
from these guys and they are top-notch on support. They have even helped
me with software issues on a package they do not even sell! Great guys.

Micros usually is really high-end so you may want to research them as well:

Good luck,

This is almost certainly a *major* undertaking.
2, 3 and 5 will be trivial after getting an inventory running, especially if
they are not weighing all their ingredients now.

If scheduling is done by hand now, chances are that computerizing this will
not improve things much if at all. People tend to get sick, not show up,
swap shifts, come in late and quit with great regularity in this kind of
business.

At the other end of the spectrum is McDonalds. They schedule based on an
incredible array of variables and track their employees to the hundredth of
an hour.
*Very* Expensive software with a ton of man years in development.

If you are going to do this get everything in writing and get a contract
that will pay you as you go.

Hello,
"Thank You", I'll look into the resources you have suggested...
