Does anyone know where I can find an online backup trial or similar? I need
to backup my hard drive because I am getting a new computer and I don't have
a burner on this old monster.

Upload your backup files to YouSendIt:

http://www.yousendit.com/

They will remain for seven days.

Buy a burner. In the time it takes to back up any meaningful amount
online you could have walked to the shop, bought a burner, installed it
and burnt a backup and still have plenty of time to sit and read a
book.

or even simpler, swap the hard drive from your old machine to your new
machine and copy the necessary files straight off (then you can back them up
using your new burner if you still need to...)

It would have helped if you had said how much data was involved. 5MB ?
5Gig ? 50 Gig ? Also, what OS you are using.

In any case you have other options.

(1) If you don't intend keeping the old computer then put that drive
as a second drive in the newer computer. Then you can copy things
whenever/however you like.

(2) If you intend keeping the old computer then use a crossover cable
and something like Laplink or DCC.

Regards, John.
