Main computer (winXP home edit) can "see" shared files on daughters computer
(win98 2nd edit)-only 2 computers on network with linksys router-daughters
computer can no longer "see" main shared files or print to Main
printer-however, daughters computer can get on internet via router-nothing
found in Network neighborhood at daughters computer, but when I do
Start-Find-Computer and type in "Main" it says 1 computer found, when I
double click on it, win98 tells me "\\Main not available, not logged
in"-I've always ignored the log-in user name and password by hitting Cancel,
I don't know any passwords for the win98 system, and up until now have never
needed them-I followed the info at careyholzman.com/net1.htm step-by-step on
both systems but still can only go one direction on network-any ideas??
thanks-Tom

You have to log in as a user on Win98 (don't hit cancel) and create the same
username & password on the XP box.

thankyou for the reply-both systems see each other now-because I didn't know my password on the win98 machine I had to clear out the password already in the machine Start-Find-Files C: and look for "Named" *.pwl which I found two of and then delete both of them-Restart and when prompted for a password left it blank-I'm now back in business Thanks again
