My home network is working, but I can no longer see the laptop (LGLB) from the main machine (PGLB). I have checked the computer name and everything else. I can see PGLB just fine from LGLB. If I go to the Run box and enter either \\PGLB or \\LGLB from LGLB, I can see the correct files. If I do the same thing from PGLB, however, I can only see the files on PGLB. I have another computer (PLSB) that I can see normally from either machine. That computer can also see PGLB, but not LGLB.

Gary,

Asymmetrical visibility can have several possible causes.
# Misconfigured or overlooked firewall. What antivirus product do you use?

# Browser conflict, possibly caused by the restrictanonymous setting. Diagnose
a browser conflict using browstat, run from both computers as "browstat status".

Would you like diagnostic help here?

Thanks for your response. It will take me a few days to get this
checked out, and I will post a result.

I got it fixed. Thanks (in large part) to your website and to Ron Lowe.

You may be interested in the fact that I found a major cause for the
"restrictanonymous" setting being wrong. CounterSpy has a utility called "My
PC Checkup", which sees a setting of "1" to be wrong and sets it to "0"
unless you specifically direct it otherwise.

Well, "0" is the setting you want. What did you set it to?

I had this very same problem and used Chuck's web site to figure it out
today. I sent a notice to Counterspy asking that they post something on
their knowledgebase about this. I suffered for months with this problem,
once I finally got to Chuck's sit tho I figured it out in a few hours.
Thought I would validate your solution here!
