One direction networking

Hi there,
I have 2 computers behind a D-Link router both running windows XP Pro.
Both computerd access the internet fine and the d-link print server.
My problem is that my left computer can see and access files on my right
computer but
my right computer can't see or access files on the left one. They are both
configured
the same I believe, I've checked all the settings.
Both computer had Norton Internet Security install before I bought the
router. I have since unistalled the firewall from both machines!
On the right computer under My Network Places / View Workgroup computers I
see my left computer but if I try to access it I get a message saying :
Access Denied, Left is not accessable. You might not have Permission ......
Any Ideas???

This situation also occurred when I wasn't behind the router!

On any XP Pro computer, check to see if Simple File Sharing (Control Panel -
Folder Options - View - Advanced settings) is enabled or disabled. With XP Pro,
you need to have SFS identically set on each computer.

With XP Pro, if SFS is disabled, check the Local Security Policy (Control Panel
- Administrative Tools). Under Local Policies - Security Options, look at
"Network access: Sharing and security model", and ensure it's set to "Classic -
local users authenticate as themselves".

With XP Pro, if you set the Local Security Policy to "Guest only", make sure
that the Guest account is enabled, thru Local User Manager (Start - Run -
"lusrmgr.msc"), and has an identical, non-blank, password on all computers. If
"Classic", setup and use a common non-Guest account, with identical, non-blank,
password on all computers.

For XP Pro with Simple File Sharing enabled, make sure that the Guest account is
enabled (thru Local User Manager (Start - Run - "lusrmgr.msc")), on each
computer.

WRT Norton, if you un install the "firewall", but leave NAV, you may still have
problems. I have had reports that un installing NIS does not produce results
until NAV is also un installed. Using all procedures provided by Symantec for
the un install.

Instead of un installing NIS, try re installing and configuring it properly.
Open ports TCP 139, 445 and UDP 137, 138, 445, and / or identify the other
computers as present in the Local (Trusted) zone.
