The shift key keeps sticking but I don't use a joystick
or switch to use it..

The shift key will stay active until you click on another key. If you
change your mind about needing an upper case character, click the Shift
button a second time.

Does Windows offer a download for the XP On-Screen
Keyboard? I have XP and think I need to re-install my On-
Screen Keyboard. Recently, after clicking shift to
change the case of a letter, it acts like shift is still
on, though it does not stay highlighted and the view of
the keyboard goes back to lowercase. If I switched from
typing in one program with the On-Screen Keyboard to
another program, it continues typing as if shift was on
and if I go to click on an item in a folder to open it,
it selects multiple items like you can when using the
shift-click method.

Does clicking Shift again to toggle it "on" and click again to toggle "off"
stop the sticking?

If you disable all of your extra startup programs (log off/log on to start
"clean"), does the problem remain?
