You can easily make a current version of Windows XP
by slipstreaming SP2 and then burn a new CD, then upgrade.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

or

AutoStreamer 1.0.33 (preferred)

You can't "upgrade" XP/home to to pro. It requires a from-scratch
setup.

Al;
Incorrect, Windows XP Home upgrades very nicely to Windows XP Pro.

In the OPs case, Windows XP Home is Service Pack 2 and Pro is Service Pack
1.
Because of the Service Pack discrepancy going to pro is like a downgrade and
not possible.

You are probably thinking of Office. You cannot upgrade Standard to Pro
within the same version. Microsoft had a program for a time in which they
gave a $75 rebate for "going Pro" provided that the customer had a retail
copy of Home and wanted to upgrade to Pro in the first 30 days.

Or you may be thinking of Windows 2000 Pro. W2k cannot be upgraded to Home,
only to Pro.

The word Upgrade begs clarification.

To move from XP Home to Pro is an Upgrade - additional functionality is
provided however no change to the build number of the Windows Operating
System.

To move from SP1 to SP2 is an Upgrade - by virtue of the release level of
the software being 'upgraded' to a higher build number [SP2 is now Build
2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158: Service Pack 2].

To move from XP Home SP2 to XP Pro SP1 or prior is a downgrade - by means pf
attempting to move backwards to an earlier [lower] build number: which is not
permitted.

So as suggested by Carey, you need to slipstream SP2 into your Xp Pro with
SP1 and then all will go just dandy.
