I have a Taxan Ultravision 1000 monitor, about 10-12 years old, in excellent condition. I have just installed my new Dell computer with Windows XP professional, and I can't get a good screen. Either the picture is much to tall and narrow, or it is unreadable (with wavy lines, cross-hatching, etc.). The Dell support person said that Windows XP professional won't support this monitor and I need a new one. The Windows support person said he had no idea whether or not the monitor was compatible

Does anyone know for sure?

Have you tried the XP driver located here. Jym

The video card only has a fixed set of vertical and horizontal
frequencies that it will use. The assumption is that you use the
controls on the monitor to adjust for vertical and horizontal size. If
you still cannot get the sizing quite right, you then try using the
sizing controls provided by your video card's software (sometimes added
as a panel under Display -> Settings -> Advanced), if provided.

I did a Google search on "Taxan UltraVision 1000" and the following URL
came up as 2nd item in the search:
http://www.si87.com/MonitorSolutions/taxan/ultravision1000.html

Looks like you need their product or something similar to adapt it to
modern computers. (I know absolutely nothing about the company or the
product)

OTOH, you may want to consider the phenomenal advances in monitor
technology since that monitor was made, and wonder how much life it
realistically has left in it.
