A friend with an older Dell (233MHz proc.) can't buy the
Norton AntiVirus because needs min 300MHz proc. to
install. I did an online security check and manually
went in and got rid of some virus files with the security
response info, but how can you get rid of infected files
that are in System Volume Information?? He has two with
Downloader.MSCache and Welchia.Worm. I disabled System
Restore when I was trying to get rid of viruses, but they
still are there. I tried the Welchia removal tool and it
said "not a Win32 application" and wouldn't run; I
switched to Safe mode & retried it - same result. (I
haven't done the manual approach to Welchia yet.) Any
ideas?? I'm going to try to reach NAV Customer Support
and see if they have any programs that will support this
older machine, but I'm not very hopeful.
