Older building problem?

I'm on my second machine and keep running into a problem. The first one I've
upgraded from 98SE to 2000 Pro to XP pro and it gets hung up when booting up
when it gets to the windows startup. There is a stop error and it reboots in
a loop. The second machine has had a clean install of XP pro and been
tested, when I start it up, it starts fine, but hangs up after running a
short while, 10-15 minutes. If I reboot right away, it hangs up while
Windows is starting, but if I wait 10 minutes, it starts ok. I live in an
old apartment building with no ground wire. Has anyone heard of that causing
a problem? I have this older machine w/98SE on it that works fine.

Sounds to me like an "overheating problem", perhaps the CPU fan is not
seated properly on the Processor.
Check the temp readings on the sensors......
