old office 2000 on new computer w/windows xp

My question is will the software for Office 2000 Small Business which came with my four year old Gateway..(500 mhtz processor running Windows 98) work on my new computer....2.6 ghtz running Windows XP. The new computer has Microsoft Works, but I prefer Office 2000 Small Business. I've had a couple of conflicting answers, so I'm comin' to the
"pros"!! Thanks for any help you can give me.!

Hello Deb,

Please feel free to install Office 2000 on your new computer. Also, don't
forget to download the latest updates from
http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/default.aspx?CTT=6&Origin=EC790020111033
and click "Check for Updates" under "Download"

I have both on my XP home. I installed Office 2000 on the newer XP with
Works.

It will work with no problems what-so-ever. After you've installed it, make
sure to get the updates for it from:
http://office.microsoft.com/OfficeUpdate
