Hi - for some reason all my MP3 icons have changed into a very very old
version - like those in the early media players (like win95)..... looks very
untidy in my folders ! mpeg and other sound and video extensions still look
normal. Still opens in media player as normal though... odd. Anyone know
where the options are to change the icons back?

Hi Mike,

Are you able to change the default icon for .mp3 files, via Folder Options > File Types dialog?

-or-

Via the registry:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mp3file\DefaultIcon

Set (default) to "C:\PROGRA~1\WINDOW~2\wmplayer.exe,-120"

-or-

For Windows XP SP1 and above:

Set WMP as the default player in Add/Remove Programs > Set Program Access and Defaults. This sets WMP as the default for most file types, and fixes the wrong icons.
