Uh... what if you don't have Lotus anymore? I'm helping a
friend whose hard drive crashed and he doesn't have the
original software install disks (or cd). We'd really
rather not go out and buy a new copy of Lotus to do this.
Is there a file converter available anywhere???
If you don't have 123 any more, you are screwed. No sense sugar coating
this.
There is *NO* free software that works with .123 files.
There is nothing from Microsoft that works with .123 files. [The .123 file
format has now been out for more than 6 years. If Microsoft were ever going
to have provided tools to read such files, they would have done so already.]
The only know software packages that can read and convert .123 files into
any other file format are
- Lotus 123 itself (no surprise)
- Corel Quattro Pro 10 and 11
- DataViz ConversionPlus (which I haven't used in the last 6 years).
All of these are commercial software, so you or your friend is going to have
to buy one of these if you want to do anything useful with these .123 files.
You don't have any alternative.
I'd guess 'used' copies of Quattro Pro 10 (in WordPerfect Office 2002) would
be the cheapest of all these alternatives, but 'used' copies of SmartSuite
may not be much more expensive.
