I have saved my .dbx files form my old outlook express emails. Is there any
way to just import what is in these emails right into my Outlook (2003). I
just saved them froma disk that got corrupt and owuld not boot. The .dbx
files are fine, but the only way I could see is install express, sopmehow
load them in there then upgrade to Outlook to import them. I was just
wondering if there was a way I could just import them.

No, you must configure them with OE first and then export from within OE to
Outlook.

-What do the Outlook Icons Mean?
-Create an Office 2003 CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 1

I'm in Outlook 2003 right now. I don't want to actually click finish
because I'm afraid it'll start importing right away and I don't want those
messages in here but it LOOKS like the following might do it.

File>Import/Export>Import Internet Mail and Addresses>Outlook Express 4.x,
5.x, 6.x (with "Import Mail" checked)>Finish. It asks for the location of
OE's message stores--that's the dbx files right?

Don I said:

I just tried what you describe and it did NOT ask for any location of a
message store. It went directly to OE and imported the messages in the
folders.

After reading this, I went back and tried it again. It did the same thing
to me. BUT yesterday when I typed that it DID ask me for a location. I
typed the message as I clicked on each menu item to make sure I didn't get
it wrong.

I even thought maybe it was because I had OE open when I tested it today--so
I closed it and tried again. Still did it. That's one thing I CAN'T
explain. MAYBE if OE is not setup (as is the OP's case), Outlook would ask
for the location? Altough OE WAS set up for me at the time.

I've seen a lot of ODD things happen with Micro$oft products--this is
another one of them.
