I upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP, and Outlook Express lost my many thousands of saved messages in dozens of folders. Poking around on the disk I was able to find what appears to be the old local folders file from the previous version of Outlook Express. Can I easily get access to that information? Is it possible to add the old mail file to the current Outlook Express somehow for reading
The upgrade maintained my address book, but not my very large saved mail files
Thank you, David

Under the Windows Xp 'multi user' structure, you should find that with Outlook Express, User Name email folder is
C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Local Settings\Application o
C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{A2410D6A-60DE-46E9-9799-E02B127A5208}\Microsoft\Outlook Expres
You may be lucky and find that your old message file has not been overwritten, depending upon the installation process you followed

Thus you can try the Imrport Wizard to import mail folders and account settings from your previous stored location

I guess this is why Microsoft built into the Installation CD for Xp, User Migration Tools, in order to backup from previous versions and then save before upgrading, later to allow for import all of these for folks who don't think for themselves.
