I'm looking at the COM Add-Ins Add/Remove box in OL2003 and I see a check
box for each add-in. Does unticking that box prevent the add-in from
loading?

For instance, I have an iTunes add-in which I believe is used for by iTunes
for some kind of date-driven syncing. I don't do anything like that with
iTunes so I don't want the possible complication. On the other hand I don't
necessarily want to REMOVE the add-in since it's in a non-standard location
and I'll probably forget where it's at in the event that I ever want decide
it's useful after all.

Have you tried unchecking it? What happens if you do?

After unchecking the COM add-in I can't tell that anything has happened to
be honest with you. I ran these tests:

With iTunes COM addin unchecked:
*Started iTunes and refreshed subscribed podcasts. They updated.
*I see no visible evidence (such as a menu item)in Outlook for something
iTunes related.

With iTunes COM addin checked:
*Exactly the same results as above.

This Outlook addin clearly isn't intended to add functionality to Outlook.
Perhaps it adds some automation to iTunes - unneeded in my case since I do
everything in iTunes manually. I see that unticking is sticky between
Outlook sesions - good.

But again, has unticking the checkbox prevented the addin from loading?
