OL keeps sending MSG's with big attachments

Version outlook 2003

Why do emails with large attachments stay in my outbox and send to the
recipients over and over until I delete it from the outbox. I sent an email
the other day that sent the 10 times before one of the recipients called and
said enough already.

Usually caused by scanning your outgoing mail with a virus scanner.
