OL error 0x80042108

Error message upon send/receive from POP3 acc is: 0x80042108. I have
read many posts, to no avail. This is what I have done so far to
resolve:

1) Disabled McAfee AV on the machine, no difference
2) Tested web interface with relevant username/password, all OK
3) Tried same account settings at different workstation, all works
fine from another machine on same network.
4) When use *same* (!!) unit on another network (i.e. at another
customer's site), send/recieve is fine
5) Enabling Windows SP2 Firewall (or disabling), no difference
6) On our network, we use ISA FW Client. Enabling or disabling the fw
client: no difference
7) What I find especially strange, is that from this unit, I can
telnet to the pop3 host on 110 without any problem (Which is why I
believe the problem has to be in OL2003)
8) I have deleted & recreated the account, no difference...

Does anyone have an idea what more I can do???

Thanks for the info, unfortunately it wasn't of much help. I did
however find out what caused the error...
IP addresses are assigned via DHCP, with no default gateway. The
"other" workstations I tested on had static IP's, which is why it
worked. The moment I assigned a default gateway to the problem unit,
OL started to send/receive mail OK.

Totally illogical if you ask me, because even without Default Gateway,
I could telnet to port 110 and 25 (as per the ISA Fw rule...) I have
absolutely no idea why OL would want a def gateway????
