OL 2003: Contacts folder adds/changes always get "errors have been detected ..." message

For the last few days, every time I try to add/change an entry in my
Contacts folder, I get this error message. I dutifully run ScanPST,
which reports errors, which are then fixed.

Then I try to make the same add/change in Contacts, and the cycle
repeats itself. I've noticed that ScanPST runs very fast the second
time I run it.

How do I get my Contacts folder back?

Assuming a PST for the mail store (as opposed to Exchange), were I in your
shoes, I'd create a new PST, make it the default delivery location (bottom
left of Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next), and move my existing items into the new
PST.

Brian,

Thank you very much. Your approach worked. Someone told me to do a
"Detect and Repair" but that didn't help any. So I created a new OL
2003 format file (Unicode). My problem PST file was an OL 97-2002
(ASCII) file so this procedure gave me a way to upgrade.

It was a pain moving over folder after folder after folder, especially
the default folders like CALENDAR, TASKS, and NOTES. The CONTACTS
folder contents were especially problematic, because Outlook refused
to move contacts that were flagged. So I had to copy them instead.

Only remaining problem is that I can't close the old PST file, because
every time I click on PROPERTIES for that file, I get an "Ojbect not
found" message. I've already searched the MS KB but didn't find any
useful info there.

Do I need to delete my current mail profile and create a new one?

Also, all my 40+ mail rules became invalid as a result of this
process. Pain in the keister.

See if you can remove it with File>Data File Management. If you can't, then
a new profile is in order.
