Oh Wise Windows Gurus please help

Having a problem with a few different programs. When I launch some of the games I have, the screen goes extremely dark and to about a third its size, it is impossible to make things out. It is only on a few programs, and my regular operations such as IE etc work fine. I havent had this problem before, but I recently did a factory restore to my computer, could that have anything to do with it? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Maybe when you restored you didn't install the latest video card
drivers. They may come in CDs supplied with the computer, or you can
go to the manufacturer's webpage and download the latest drivers.

If you're unsure what the video card is, go to Start > Run > dxdiag
and look in the display tab.

Also, obtain latest Directx-9. Some of the newer games etc. NEED it, where
others work "OK" without it.
