(Posted in the coffeeshop and they suggested I post this over here.)

I'm running an HP thin client at work with XPe. I am clueless about the OS.
All I know is that IT has my system locked down so tight it's scary. No
right click, can't access anything, no floppy, no CD drive, can't use my
husband's jump drive, no email - get the idea? Paranoia runs rampant!

Per IT, I have to restart my system at the end of every day. Occasionally I
get an error message as it's restarting that says, XPePrep.exe - Application
error.

"The instructions at "0x77f83905" referenced memory at "0x002e0032". The
memory could not be written.

Click OK to terminate the program.

At this point I've clicked okay and the system seems to work fine. I've also
tried restarting it. Generally it stops reappearing on the third restart.

Would someone please translate this into plain English? Does anyone know
what XPePrep is? Do I need it? Should I call Tech Support or just live with
it?

Hi JoAnn,

I'm clueless about your OS because it is created by HP and I have not seen it (and features that it contains).

Actually it is not a paranoia and it is not locked, probably fact is that these OS features that you expect from general purpose OS
are just not present in HP thin client.
Per IT, I have to restart my system at the end of every day. Occasionally I
get an error message as it's restarting that says, XPePrep.exe - Application

This application is not provided by MS. My guess is that it is used to set some parameters of your computer during the each boot.

You should report this problem to someone in charge since this is definitely not a normal behavior. But you should wait to get few
more answers here (someone might have seen this problem before.)
