Offline pst files

I have an issue.....

Laptop users archive their mailbox to pst files. These files should really
be stored on their network drives to ensure they are backed up etc. The
network drives have been made available offline. When the laptop users are
working offline they also need to access this data. By behaviour pst files
are not available offline. If I make them available offline by changing the
local policy it can lead to conflict errors.

I understand that you should use offline files (ost files). I do this for
the mailbox, but how can I make a pst file either into a ost file or
available offline with consistancy.

I hope this makes sense

Thanks

Richard

Hi,

If you have an OST file that your users would like to have as a PS
there is a fairly good utility called OST2PST that you can use --- tha
way you can import the data from the PST file - which would hav
otherwise not been possible if your OST has been orphaned o
corrupted.

I also noticed another user posted in the forum that they can seem t
see their PST file in winxp/win2k -- it because of the security tha
you cant search the whole HDD even though you selected it - the fil
can be found in <localdrive>:\documents and setting\<user name>\loca
settings(hidden folder)\application data\outlook (the pst is in thi

Um, no. The correct path is %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook (you forgot the "Microsoft" node).

thanx Brian.

I realised now when i reread the post that i forgot the MS part.
Hope the problem was sorted atleas
