This is interesting. On my Vista Ultimate PC it worked. On my Home
Premium PC it didn't find it. Is this one of those Ultimate features
not available on Home Premium? (I don't need it this feature and
turned it off on my Ultimate PC).

That would explain it. I have Home Premium, and the menu entry

Disabling offline files keeps all the the current sync device's
entries stored. When you re-enable offline files all the previous
devices are listed in Sync Center again. How do you delete a device
from Sync Center?
