Offline files and connection issues

I removed Symantec Anti-virus Corp from my network and since then I have had
problems getting systems to remain connected to the main file server.
Network access to the Internet is good, it does not seem to drop connections.
Mail seems to work as well as can be expected. Users can do a reconnection
to the server but then it just drops the connection again. I rebuilt the
server, re-setup the DFS links but some of the clients just keep dropping the
link. The server was our Symantec AV server but the clients all got the
definations from a different server. Clients are XP SP 2 server is Windows
2003 Standard SP 2 (now). DST patched clients with none seeming to exhibit
any Kerboros issues.

Has anyone seen anything similar?

I have had similar problems after installing SP2. It wasn't a problem prior
SP2. Still trying to resolve the problem.
My environment uses UNIX as the file server so it must relate to changes in
the security in XP and or network load / errors.

We have had no issues with offline files until we got rid of Symantec. I am
getting more users with issues and it is beginning to look like I have a lot
of rebuilding to do. It appears that maybe DFS had been damaged some how,
and yes Symantec AV was installed on the DC's as well.
