running xp-pro (obviously); with ALL patches/updates except sp2 (yet).

so much for the "most stable version of windows yet" !!!!

whenever I select a new folder on a mapped network drive for offline
synchronization - during the sync, xp locks up SOLID - alt-ctl-del
does NOTHING! The mouse doesn't even move - my only out is to force a
power down/reset & reboot !!!!

This ALSO happens AFTER the initial request to offline the files, IF
the number of files to be sync'd is larger than ?some? number. - this
is an appearance, I've done no work to confirm this for sure; but
small folders sync OK, larger ones LOCK up solid.

Does anyone have a clue as to what might be going on???
I can find NO references to this problem ANYWHERE (ie: mskb, full
usenet search, etc)

ALSO -
I saw my next question posted back in 2002, but saw no response, so
I'll ask it again.

WHY can I NOT sync mdb files??????
Is there a way to override this behavior?? (registry entry?)

Is it on one pc or many ? Try to exclude "c:\windows\csc"
from antivirus scanning (client side caching).
You can exclude mdb and pst types from synchronizing by
specifying these extensions in a group policy. These
files cannot be synchronized because this will be to
difficult for Microsoft.

I am having the same issue with a brand new laptop. The user was previously
synchonizing fine using the same verions of XP, same patches/updated but just
a different (and older and less spec'd) laptop. We let it run overnight and
even after 18 hours it had not finished. It took about 5 minutes to
synchronize a 1Kb shortcut.

It is the first time the user has logged onto the computer so I knew it
would take longer than normal to get everything across and not just the
changes but it was too extreme. You could not use the computer at all during
the whole process.

Since making offline files unavailable the laptop is running fine and at a
great speed.

Can someone help as this user is very reliant on his offline files.

Thanks
