Office Word Font Frozen

A few days ago, something happened to my Office Word app. It is probable
that I futzed with a setting without realizing what I was doing.

I can’t change font types or size from the default setting when I select
alternative choices. When I probe the parts I tried to chance with the
cursor, the desired style and size appear nominated in the little
windows, but the page itself remains unchanged. It used to be I could
enter any font style and size I wanted and that is what I got.

Did I disable this feature somehow?
