The Office Update Installation Engine is an ActiveX control, opuc.dll.
Detect and Repair will not help.
Open Internet Explorer | Click Tools | Manage Add-ons |
If you do not see Office Update Installation Engine, then click on Add-ons
that have been used by Internet Explorer.
Either way highlight Office Update Installation Engine and click the Update
ActiveX button.
Before SP2 it was easy to remove the damaged crap. You may need to delete
opuc.dll before getting a new copy.
