Office patch can't find "L" drive

WHen I try and apply the online updates for Office then they fail with a
message saying they can't find drive L.

I have downloaded the utdate patches and I get the same problem.

Presumably, I must have installed Office from my CD when the CD drive
was called the L drive.

How can I change the drive which the current update is looking for?

I suspect that the shortcut on your desktop called "My Documents"
points at drive L:, which may not exist while you install this patch.
Point it at a folder on the local disk before trying again.

Unfortunately I don't have any L drive at the moment.

I guess there must have been an L drive when I installed Office as I
move hard drives around a lot.

Isn't there some Microsoft utility which resets or erases the
installation info for Microsoft products?

What does "My Documents" point to on your PC?

Hi there,

You can change the cd rom drive letter: right click my computer and choose
manage, computer management will open. Choose disk management and choose the
cd rom drive of which you want the drive to be L: right click it and choose
change drive letter, if L is still free you can change the drive to L, if
not you will have to change the L drive to another so L will be freed up.

You can also download a full patch which does not require the Office cd rom
for installation.

Best regard,
Michel Denie
