Office not working after updates

I just installed office 2000 pro on my new computer with
widows xp home. I downloaded and installed all the
updates and security patches and now, none of the
programs work: they all start then after a second or two
automatically go away! Any help on this is appreciated.

Hmm... widows xp... bet there are more than a few women who fit that
definition, or should I say eXPerience it. <g>

Did you update office or just windows?
