The default menu option in Offcie is to show short menus. If you query Help,
you are told how to click on the "Expand" button to expand the menus. Why
don't you also inform people that you can permanently disable the compressed
menu feature from the Tools menu? I went to the MS Word Help page, and there
were multiple people asking the same thing. Why not make it easier on your
users by putting (apparently very) relevant help information in the Help file?

You will be glad to hear that in Office 2007 short menus are off by
default (for the programs that still have a menu structure that is).

In Word, click on View | Toolbars | Customize | Options tab |
check the "Always show full menus" box.
