Office and Access problem

I cannot get into my database recently. I tested it on another computer and it works fine. I have tried to repair Office, but same problem. I'm running XP Home with Office 2000. Recently installed MS SQL and VB .Net. When I go into the application it says "Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost." If I hold down the shift key to skip the menu, it goes into the db without an error, but I can't access any of the tables. When I double-click on them, nothing happens. I can get into the forms and see the data, but can't search. Will I have to reinstall Office and if so, expected downtime?

It is possibly a nasty bug. See:

Make sure you have back-up copies of the database as this bug may corrupt
your database irretrievably.
