Office 98 Word template

How can I clear the default document that appears when I open the program so
it does not contain any text? I've inadvertently saved a document that
continues to reappear each time I open the program.
 
Office 98 is a Mac version. Are you really on a Mac?

If you just got the number wrong, and aren't on a Mac, see here:

If you are on a Mac, find and open the Normal template at (applications OS
9/office 98/templates) and delete the text from it.

Or repost on the MacWord newsgroup, where you will probably get a quicker
answer.
