Can anyone advise me. I want to upgrade to Office 2007. My notebook came
installed with Works 8.0. I have looked at the Office website and I think I
am entitle to the upgrade rather than the full edition but I asked the
'Geeks' at Best Buy and they said I would have to pay the full amount for the
Full Edition.

Who is right?

TIA

According to
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/FX101754511033.aspx, your
version of Works can be used as a qualifying product for the upgrade
versions of Office Standard 2007, Office Small Business 2007, Office
Professional 2007, or Office Ultimate 2007.

an upgrade to Works, not Office 2007. I went through the same thing. If
it's "Word, Excel, Power Point" that you want, you need to purchase "Office
Home and Student 2007." You also get OneNote as well (pretty good) and this
costs $149 - good luck. Unless you want everything in Office 2007 (the
complete suite) then be prepared to spend the big bucks.

Hope this helps.
