Firstly, Office 2007 beta is not an upgrade, it is _beta_ software.
Unless you are experienced using beta software, and understand that you
may lose data, have software glitches, even trash your system
completely, don't install it.

Beta software is usually time-limited as well, so one day it will stop
working, probably just when you need it most.

If you insist on installing this software, understand that Microsoft
will accept no responsibility if it trashes your system. Read the EULA.

This doesn't answer your question, as I don't know the answer. I am
happy with my current office suite and will not touch Office 2007 beta
with a barge pole until it has been through the beta and release
candidate process and is released as a fully functioning retail product.

What version do you have installed now? The Shortcut Bar was removed when Office 2003 was released. "Upgrading" to the Office 2007 beta is definitely not recommended. Check out the office newsgroups to read some of the horror stories.

The best way to check out the new beta is with the online test drive.
