Has anyone had trouble installing office 2003 or office xp ina pc running
Vista Home edition?

On my xp machine I had xl95,xl97sr2 & xl2002 all running just fine.
On my new Vista machine, many problems with xl95 and xl97 but Office 2003
(xl2003) runs just fine. I still haven't installed my copy of Office 2007
yet.

Try it with UAC off. I have less troubles with UAC off. Can't recall if Iinstalled with UAC on or off, but it's OFF now.

Try turning off your Antivirus program while doing the install. Sometimes
it perceives Office as malicious.

If you have difficulty, I'd suggest you try OpenOffice.org - it should
install with no problem and will probably meet your needs - and it won't
cost a dime to try it or use it forever if you like it.

Hi Dave

I am fairly CPU friendly but unfortuantely with me computers are like
cars....l know how to work them but l am no mechanic. Need a bit of guidance.
Does Vista Home Premium have Word or not. I notice there are people here
asking if Works Suite 2003 will run on Vista. I can only find wordpad and
notepad on my new Advent ERT 2250 Laptop wordpad and notepad are very poor
compared to Word etc in Works Suite on my Advent 3316 ( XP Home ). I would
have expected spmething along the lines of Works Suite in the laptop
considering how much more these things cost in the UK. Reading the terms and
conditions on my Microsoft Licence it appears that l am permitted to use the
Worksuite on my laptop (provided its mine and for my use only ). Is that your
understanding ...before l consider actually doing it.

No version of Word, Office or Works comes with any version of Windows. Some
computer manufacturers will add Works or Office when they build the systems
but that's the choice of the manufacturer. Windows comes only with Notepad
or Wordpad.

This explains why when l got my PC that it came with a bundle of stuff
including Works Suite 2003. I assumed it was all part of the windows package.
What do you make of using this on my Laptop as well. I think l have read the
terms correctly and its not necessary to purchase another copy in this
instance.

Kind Regards

It was probably pre-installed. If so, just use it. If not, install.

Must be a good antivirus program then, if it recognizes that. :-)

Sorry, I can't read the license from here. ;-) I have no advice for you on
that subject.
