Hello all!

I am looking into using GPO to do a deployment of Office 2003 via GPO.
Got the O2K3 resource kit, and it seems strait forward BUT, i am
require to make sure all previous version are removed (again, seems
strait forward with the tolls from the RK) AND make sure that NO
OUTLOOK PROFILES are lost (i.e. do not want to go at each station and
redo the CURRENT settings of any users).

Can this be done, meaning having some way to keep the existing profile
before un-installing any previous version and importing them in the
newer one,or will I have to specify SOME of the settings via the
Outlook customization page (server name, mailbox, etc.), and RISK
loosing some settings that MAY be existing on some users (like local
"old" PAB that are NOT wanted to be converted into the address book,
other PST file used by the users, etc.).

And Since I am writing this as I read the DOcs, it looks like my
question can apply basically to ANY Office settings with using OPS...

Thank you in advance for any and all help/pointers/information you may
provide me with.

My regards!

Hello, I can't give you an 100% sure answer here. but the upgrade process
won't lose the profiles for outlook in a normal case. How ever I don't think
you will lose the profile, with a software installation assigned by group
policy

Well, I can't guarantee anything but I did this upgrade a couple of
months ago (right when 2003 was released). I modified the package to add
company name and the license code only. When the package was pushed
Office 2000 and XP were upgraded and the Outlook profiles were intact.
Really went without a hitch.
