I know this is a generic question, but has anybody installed Office 2003
Prof on their Win XP Prof machine and found any problems?

I'm running Office XP (2002??) and wondered if it was worth doing? Any
major differences?

Also is it one of those upgrades where its best to uninstall and reinstall
the software rather than simply update?

Hi, My personal opinion is you should only upgrade if you use Microsoft
Outlook for your e-mail client. The other programs don't included a large
reason to upgrade, but Outlook is about 50% better than it was before.

You should have no problems all running Windows XP Professional.

Many thanks Chris

What about the re-install or update bit?

Oh..A simple upgrade install for Office is all you need. Uninstalling isn't
a good idea when installing Office. It's nothing like Windows installs. :)

Greetings --

I've upgraded from Office XP Professional to Office 2003
Professional without any problems, although I do have one gripe.
They've done away with the Office shortcut bar, which I've been using
for years to launch Office and other applications. (I absolutely hate
browsing through that cumbersome Start Menu _and_ a cluttered
Desktop.)

As for major differences, I've not seen too many beyond the
display interface, although I'm sure there are more that I've yet to
encounter. Most of the enhancements and additional features in Office
2003 seem to be aimed at the corporate environment and collaboration.

Hi Laphan,

I installed Office 2003 on Windows XP, and it occurred without a
hitch. The installler will ask you if you want previous versions of
Office removed, the Outlook settings (accounts, contacts) migrated
smoothly. You can choose to retain the previous versions and they
coexist, when you switch between Word XP and Word 2003 the installer
will appear for a few seconds, to register Word.

You can also choose to update, and the installer will remove previous
versions of Office with no problem.

Regards.
