Many thanks to all who are helping me with this. Sadly, my current PC is so
poorly that it can't open any postings with more than 5 replies - so I can't
see everyone's replies. New PC is here tomorrow - hooray.

Spurred on by your info, I am now trying to uninstall Office 2003 but,
despite having done it twice before, I am struggling with it now. Do I use
Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel? If so, will it ask me to insert the
original CD in the drive - as I seem to remember it doing? I'm worried that
hitting 'Remove' will delete the program completely and not lift it back to
the CD for future use.

I've surfed the net for info on this but not found anything helpful - other
than problems with doing it which I'd like to avoid - and there's nothing
obvious on the CD itself other than a Setup application which wants to write
files to my hard drive.

Thanks again for your help, chrissyd.

use add/remove and uninstall ...it requires the original cd to perform the
uninstall...

it will not do anything to the cd ... you will be able to use it over and
over to install

Hi Haggis, thanks for this - I read your message, tried out the uninstall -
the system crashed somewhere along the process and when I rebooted Office was
gone.....gulp. I've only just been able to log in to rate your reply and say
thanks. Hope I'll be able to do the same for other helpers when I get the new
PC and I've worked out how to use it - and Vista, and new broadband
software.... could be some time. :-)
