Yes, it will work just fine, even office 97 will work good
on Windows XP. u DON'T need office XP to go with Windows XP

Office 97 only works fine if you are sitting there as administrator to your
machine and you don't roam around to other machines. In any other
situations, Office 97 (and especially Outlook 97) is just plain broken. For
a home user, it's normally fine.

Office 2000 Small Business is fine, to answer the original question.

I am about to purchase a new computer. Will Office 2000
Small Business work on XP?

Yes. However note that the Small Business edition is an OEM
version, and the license for an OEM version ties it permanently
to the first computer it's installed on. So moving it to your
new computer is a license violation.

Small Business Office has retail editions as well as OEM ones.

However, it is a good thought that the version they have may have come with
another system, in which case your point about not being able to transfer it
is quite valid.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes this how many times in the last week this
question has been asked and answer.

Greetings --

If it's included in the purchase of the new PC, yes. If it came
with another, older PC (Office SBE is available *only* as an OEM
license), then you may not legally transfer it to any other PC.

Hmm, interesting. I could've sworn I've seen retail versions. I stand
corrected. Thanks.

OfficeXP Kelly, or an earlier (Office2000) version? I am beginning to
suspect that the SBE version is now OEM-only with OfficeXP.

'Course, the header on this thread is about Office2000......
