The Office 2000 installer frequently start running out of the blue, but
without success. I put my Office CD in, but get the error:

"Error 1919. Error configuirng ODBC data sourse: MS Access Database, ODBC
error 6: Component not found in the registry. Verify that the file MS Access
Database exists and that you can access it."

What is going on??

You should ask this question in an Office 2000 newsgroup. Here is a
link to a list of all MS newsgroups:

It's perfectly compatible - are you sure you're using the right CD? As in,
Standard, Pro, OEM or not, etc, that matches what's installd on your
computer? Why not run a reinstall, choose custom, make sure that all
components are set to install & run locally from your computer....then you
shouldn't get prompted for the CD again.

Re-install Office 2000 and use Custom Install, make sure to select Run
All From Comuter for both discs (in the case of Office 2k Pro).
