Make the Ie Plug in open source like in Mozilla, Netscape.

Then the person could not claim it violates a patent, because that patent
would violate the General Public License.

I thought Mozilla, Netscape was the first one to have the plug ins?
So in a Sense Microsoft, Netscape, Opera, Mozilla, QuickTime, e.t.c
could issue a counter claim saying they copied code.

Of course this is My opinion. I could be wrong

It's a bit more complicated, Greg. MS can't make it's current plugin
technology Open Source, because they don't own the patent, and they
bundle IE as part of the very expensive Windows. You really can't put
the Genie back in the bottle. MS's only hope is to prove that someone
came up with the plugin idea before the current patent holder, or buy
out Eolas and get control of the patent rights that way.
