I have a "general release" copy of WinXP Pro, but I'd
like to add some custom info as normally displayed in the
specified files in the OEM release. Is there a way to
add this feature (so it shows up in the System
Properties/General Tab).

Thanks in advance.

Greetings --

You already know what files you need to edit, so I'm afraid I
don't understand your question.

Simply create and modify as desired the
c:\windows\system32\oeminfo.ini and
c:\windows\system32\oemlogo.bmp files.

Kind Sir

I added my files to the specified directory... and they don't show up in the Windows "System Properties / General" tab as I expected... thus, my question and request for assistance

Is there another file or settign that tells Windows XP (retail) to look for these items that's already flagged in Windows XP (OEM)?

Make sure your "oeminfo.ini" and "oemlogo.bmp" are in the "system32" folder
with the "oeminfo.ini" having following format:

; ------- Start of OEMINFO.INI -----
[general]
Manufacturer=Mom & Pops PC Company
Model=The biggest and baddest
SupportURL=http://support.somehelp.com
LocalFile=

[Support Information]
Line1= Info
Line2= Info
Line3= Phone
Line4= etc
Line5= etc
Line6= etc
Line7= etc
; ------- End of OEMINFO.INI -----

I used these very same instructions from another source and only part of the information shows up. The supportURL and localfile don't show up
Also there was a reference to OEMINF.ini sections called [OEM] and [ICW], what are they and how can I use them

As for V I think he created the OEMINFO.ini file but nothing is showing up on the general tab. I read somewhere about a registry entry called "show=1" in reference to oem files not showing up?
