OE removed access to unsafe documents

Starting today I am no longer able to open email attachments. I get a
message across the top of the email when I try to click on the attachment
that says :
"OE has removed access to the following unsafe documents: xxxx.doc"

This past Saturday I downloaded the following update for windows XP:
Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express 6 Service Pack 1 (KB837009)

Do you suppose there is a connection here? Any help is appreciated.
 
Tools-> Options-> tab Security-> option Do not allow attachments...

Note that this is an Microsoft Office Outlook forum.

Outlook Express is family of Internet Explorer and Outlook of the Office
