I have 2 questions I hope you all can help with.
First when I try to send some attachments to others they fragment into many
pieces regardless of what I try.
Any suggestions?
Second, I want to back up my system, but have nothing called "backup" to
copy to disk.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Diane

Check start menu, accessories, then system tools...do you see "backup" in
there?

Regarding the fragmented attachments...have you tried sending yourself an
attachment to see if the same result happens? What email program are you
using? Outlook Express or Outlook?

I tried what was suggested, nothing under accessories system tools everything
but back up. Any more suggestions
I am now going to try sending myself an email and see if it fragments

I am running Outlook Express. When I sent myself the same email I sent other
people it fragmented into 8 parts (7 of which went right into the deleted
folder) the one I got in my inbox was fine the file was 1.39mb. Any
suggestions on that one?
Thanks
Diane

Ok...try one more thing for me...do a "search" for ntbackup.exe - it should
be in your c:\windows\system32 folder. If you upgraded from W2k, your
windows folder may be named winnt. I'm working on the email issue now.

It looks as if the fragmenting that is occurring is most likely on the
receipient's end/email program. If you have a web based email address as
well, like yahoo, or msn, or hotmail...you can try sending the email there as
well to see if it is fragmented. It is also possibly that the person's ISP
email server is unable to handle the 1.3mb email attachment. Let us know!

did the search, came back empty no ntback.exe anywhere on system?????? Now
what????
Thanks for getting back so quickly amixiam

Diane

I also searched for winnt, but couldn't find a file folder here is what I got
from my search (advanced)
$winnt$, winntbbu.dll, both are windows/system32 a couple more are window/inf
hope that helps somehow

I don't have any of those emails myself, but some of the people I send to do,
but that doesn't explain why I get the same thing myself does it?????

Are you using XP Home or XP Professional? Then I can solve the problem I
think regarding the backup...

Insert your windows XP Home Edition disc into your PC.

Click exit if your installation screen comes up. Now go too your CD drive in
*My Computer*. Right-click and select open. Choose VALUE ADD\MSFT\NT BACK-UP
FILE. In the *files of type* drop down list be sure that *select all files*
is on. Click on the NTBACK-UP.msi file and click okay. Click the finish
button and now go over too the start button\ALL PROGRAMS\ACCESSORIES\SYSTEM
TOOLS\ and there it is now...

you aren't going to believe this but the system came preloaded and I have the
suites disks but not the XP ones!!!

Hmmm...I thought when you sent the email to yourself that the attachment was
ok? I may have misunderstood your response below. Are you on dial-up or
broadband?

Amix

Diane...email me and I'll send you the setup for ntback okay?

(e-mail address removed)

We'll get you fixed up.
