It seems that e-mail program such as webpine and statistic application such as STATA is somehow related.

The error message consists of symbols I can not decipher.

The error seem to not allow an application to be closed.

Earlier a general error occurred that restarted the computer.

I can find nothing on MSN search, google, dell, or microsoft website so far. Can someone help?

odjnk.exe is located in the root windows directory, so I'm assuming it has something to do with the Windows XP OS itself.

Would running the Windows XP repair work? Would I have to re-install all the softwares in the computer if I do? Would I lose any non-OS-related data in the process of repairing a Windows XP Installation?

Thank you very very much!

I don't know what odjnk.exe is. But it isn't an XP file.

Find it and right click it, select Properties and see what
you can see. Check all tabs.

Update your anti virus software and run a complete scan.

It's found in the C:/windows/ directory

Earlier, several new complications developed, but beforehands, I'd like to note that the workstation is up to date on Microsoft Update and Symantec Norton AntiVirus Virus Definition as of 06/15/04 (today).

With Symantec Norton Antivirus set to scan e-mail activity, the computer workstation shows a "pop-up" (to show that it's scanning an outgoing or incoming e-mail) similar to an MSN Messenger popup (when an MSN Messenger contact comes online).

Today, the computer workstation showed activity of over 100 e-mails sent out within a 5 minute period.

We then took the following steps:

1. Immediately unplugged the network cable from the computer.
2. Checked to see if windows update is up to date (it is as of 06/15/04).
3. Checked to see if Virus definition is up to date (it is as of 06/15/04).
4. Performed Virus Scan (0 virus found at completion).

We also attempted the following:
1. Went into safe mode and deleted the file odjnmk.exe
after restarting, however, we were not able to access most of Microsoft softwares (particularly Microsoft Office) and some Microsoft OS functions such as User Accounts, Add/Remove Applications, etc. We then proceeded in restoring odjnmk.exe from safe mode again.

2. We installed a trial version of ZoneAlarm. ZoneAlarm detected msmsg.exe (Windows Messenger) attempting to connect to the internet (no one have never used this application before on this workstation). We denied it access to the internet. However, from this point onward, it seems that the computer can't do much more than deny msmsg.exe's attempts to connect to the internet.

3. We changed the internet setting to set default e-mail to Microsoft Outlook, because we know that Microsoft Outlook has never been configured to send/receive any e-mail, has no address book, and has no information on where to go for outgoing e-mail servers (e.g. smtp).

4. We also tried deleting the whole Windows Messenger Folder while not in safe mode, but it says that the application is being used even though it is not initialized.

All this have come to no avail up to now, and we are thinking of simply performing a clean install of Microsoft Windows XP again.

If anyone have any more idea on what is going on, please do let us know.

This problem has occurred on this workstation since the first day we set up the workstation for use on May 26th, 2004.
