Dell Latitude D600 laptop, Windows XP SP1 with latest updates except SP2;
part of a Windows 2000 domain.

After user logins in, message appears saying:

"Please wait as the wireless subsystem attemtpts to associate, authenticate,
and resolve DHCP for your 802.1x network".

After about 30 seconds, it disappears. Wireless adapter is disabled.

TCP/IP properties seem normal. Any ideas? Thanks!

Have you defined a DHCP server? The system certainly does seem to be
looking for one.

There is a DHCP server on the network and it hands out addresses in the
192.168.8.x/24 range. The laptop in question does have a valid IP from the
DHCP server. The laptop is properly configured to automatically receive IP
addresses. I just wonder what the error message means by "wireless subsystem"?

Perhaps this is the term for all of the things that are used to connected
via a wireless network. I am just guessing though.

However, as the wireless adapter gets disabled, it would seem that there is
a configuration problem somewhere.
