Is there any way to perform OCR on a jpeg file? I have a scanned article
I found on the Internet that I would like to convert into a text file.
Is there anything that can do this without rescanning the image?

Thanks!

Most OCR can accept images, as long as they are in somewhat high
resolution...

What ocr program do you have? or are you looking for one?

If necessary, you can easily convert JPGs to other image formats. See
the apps listed here:

If you need an OCR program try this app - it's gotten good reviews here
recently:

Program: FineReader
Company: ABBYY Software
Ware: (Registerware) (free) (v 4.0) older version of $ware; language
choice during setup

other free OCR apps are listed here:

or use an online app - some are listed here:

Susan,
Is that download working again? I thought people were having problems
with it or the password or whatever.

There have been no problems that I know of and everything seems to be
working fine right now.

Minimum requirement to register: choose one of the provinces in Italy

Great! Thanks. For anybody who hasn't downloaded this yet and needs an
OCR program, I highly recommend getting this one. I have it installed
and it's really nice. Very high accuracy compared to what I've used in
the past.
