Hi,

I have a problem with an update to an existing spreadsheet. I'm trying to
change an object that reads one business name, to another. When I try to
double click on the 'word art' object it will not let me change it. I have
gone through to ensure the object, file, sheet etc is not locked and cannot
still change this. I've right clicked etc and I think I've nearly tried
everything!!!

The only way it would let me change it is as a XML file. Once this is done
though it will not save properly and when you try to open the file again it
is jiberish.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure it's just something simple
that I'm missing. I have moderate experience in excel but I am not a
beginer!

Thanks,

Kassie

I don't have a guess.

But just to verify: When you click on Tools|Protection, do you see "Unprotect
sheet" or "protect sheet"?

If it shows "unprotect sheet", you can unprotect the worksheet.

Also, if I had a couple of worksheets selected (grouped), I couldn't modify my
wordart object.

Do you have [Group] in excel's title bar? If yes, then ungroup the sheets by
rightclicking on one of the selected worksheets and clicking "ungroup sheets".

Is your workbook shared? Look for [Shared] in excel's title bar. Lots of
things are unavailable in shared workbooks. You'll have to unshare the workbook
(tools|share workbook) to edit the object.
