Object expected error

Explorer gets the following error message on every webpage
I open: Line: 1 (Changes depending on the page)
Char: 1
Error: Object expected
Code: 0

It seems to have something to do with graphics loading as
they don't load properly either. Why is it doing this and
how can I fix it? I'm using Windows ME just in case it
makes a difference. (I know I should upgrade....I'll get
around to it eventually)

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/IE/scriptdb.htm

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced.
Check the box to Disable script debugging.
Uncheck the box to Display a notification about every script error.

You might want to refresh your scripting engine:

or

Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and one must go to Tools |
Internet Options and click Delete Files.

Thanks for the help, I've done what you suggested and am
still getting the same error. Is there anything else I
can try?

Ran regsvr32 as you suggested....no change....any other
suggestions? (Getting kind of frustrating isn't it?)

I had same problem with IE6 SP1 / W2K SP4. Happened with virtually an
Web page.
Was getting 'Object Expected' and 'Object doesn't support this propert
or method' errors.
Tried deinstalling SPYBOT, Sun JRE, stopping ZONELABS firewall...all t
no avail.
Last thing I did was to delete both the IE6 files AND cookies.
Ref. IE -> Tools -> Internet Options -> General Tab -> Delete Cookies
Delete Files ; Stop/Start IE6.
This did the trick for me.
Good Luck

Rule out parasites.

IE 6.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
