Or never had it.

New Dell an wish to send images to Mother.
WinXP Media

Anyone assist me?

Thanks,

In O.E. when you make a new message you should be able to click Insert menu >
Picture...

Or try this, just drag the picture file from your desktop into the message
window where you type your message. When you drop the picture, it'll attach
itself to the message. Although this way your mom will have to open the
attachment (it won't just show up in-line with the text).

Thanks for the reply, Shawn.
The Insert menu is all greyed out. 8^((.
Well, except for the "File Attachment".
drybones

Hmm. The commands on the insert menu will be grey if: the text curor is
anywhere but the message body box (if you're typing in the subject line, the
insert menu won't let you insert a picture.)

Click in the message body and then try.

In your new message, go to Format and select Rich Text (HTML)
from the menu. You should now find Insert -> Picture available
..

If you want this to be the default behavior you'll have to
change the Mail sending format to HTML. You do this from the
main OE toolbar -> Tools -> Options -> Send -> Mail Sending
format -> HTML.

Keep in mind that many people have their email program set up
to only read messages in Plain Text. They will receive your
HTML formatted message as an attachment.

Good luck

Shawn,

I did Insert / Picture then Picture Source after clicking on 'Browse'
O.E. Locks up.

Good Gawd.

Please see last reply from me to 'Shawn'.

I did do as you suggested prior to viewing your reply to me.
<SIGH> O.E. still locks up.
drybones

Good Gawd is right, ha ha.

I hate to be lame, but try rebooting.

Also... it may appear that outlook locks up, but if for some reason it's
trying to access a network folder, or list the content of your "My Network
Places" folder or something similar, it might appear to lock up until the
directory listing it's waiting on either finishes downloading, or the
operations fails, times out, and you get sent back to "Desktop" or something.
Go to the browse button, and then when it appears to lock up, wait at least
3 minutes, just to humor it.

Let me know.

OK-Ihave a similar problem. Running XP Pro on a new Dell. I can
Insert/Picture/Browse I get the Picture/Picture Source window no
problem. When I select a file and click Open, nothing happens. BUT -
if I double click the file, I'm returned back to the Picture/Picture
Source window and again nothing happens. BUT - when I click OK I can
see that something is being inserted into the email message in teh
background because the scroll bar moves down and gets smaller each time
I click OK. This is where I'm left and no other buttons work. When I End
Task, the Manager message says the system is waiting for a response from
me. Also, I can't insert any pictures into new Signatures but I can use
an image as a background. I've re-installed XP and also the Dell
utilities.

Can anyone offer any help or advice. I need this feature badly.....

Ted

Ted, this is the exact same problem i am having on my new Dell. is it a Dell
thing?
i am steady searching for answers and i will let you know if i get one.

Thanks Susie - I've not found an answer yet. Waiting 3 minutes
everytime I want to insert a picture into an email is not a solution
(although I'll give it a try). I was told it was a glitch with Express
which is part of XP so I re-installed XP and also the Dell utilities.
Nothing works and I can't find anyone locally who has a clue about a
fix. I know this is a popular feature and you would think Uncle Bill
and his minions would troubleshoot this stuff before release.....
